District and Platte County Spelling Bee Winners 


Fourteen Park Hill School District students placed in the district spelling bee on Jan. 17. They all advanced to the Platte County Spelling Bee which took place on Feb. 21.
The Platte County Spelling Bee champion was Lakeview eighth grader Grant Pace. He outlasted 42 students from the Park Hill School District, North Platte R-I School District, Platte County School District and West Platte R-II School District. 

Congress eight grader Lucas Bruce took third place, and Southeast fifth grader Emily Couts took fourth place in the Platte County Spelling Bee. Pace and Bruce will advance to the Regional Spelling Bee on March 10 in St. Joseph.

The district’s spelling bee champion is seventh grader Sarah Komar from Lakeview Middle School. The second place winner is fifth grader Trevor Stammler from Hawthorn Elementary, and the third place winner is eighth grader Lucas Bruce from Congress Middle School.

The other students who placed in the top 15 to qualify for the county bee are Pranav Suppal, eighth grade, Lakeview; Ryan Decker, seventh grade, Congress; Lawrence Fang, seventh grade, Lakeview; Grant Pace, eighth grade, Lakeview; Hannah Moore, seventh grade, Congress; Lucas Bowman, fifth grade, Graden Elementary; Jackson Elder, sixth grade, Plaza Middle School; Emily Couts, fifth grade, Southeast Elementary; Richley West, sixth grade, Plaza; Grace Dieleman, fifth grade, Union Chapel Elementary; Taiya Shelby, sixth grade, Plaza; and Carson Schutter, seventh grade, Lakeview.
Grace Yu, fourth grade, Chinn Elementary, was also part of the top 15 students, but because she is a fourth grader is not able to advance to the county bee.
