Do the proposed scenarios change the current middle and high school boundaries?
No. The final recommendation for elementary schools does not includes changes to the current middle or high school boundary lines. Based upon early feedback, the redistricting committee considered creating a feeder system of two sets of five elementary schools that would feed our secondary schools. A feeder system would have required an adjustment to the middle and high school boundary lines. Because of other priorities, this concept was not included the committee's proposals.
Will students who will be in fifth grade in 2012-2013 be able to stay in their current schools?
The Board of Education voted to allow current fourth graders to stay in their current school for their fifth grade year. The district will not provide transportation for these students, and this exception does not apply to younger siblings.
Is the redistricting committee finished, and is the decision already made?
The redistricting committee met six times, including twice in March to review community feedback, adjust scenarios, and to make a final recommendation. The commitee made their final recommendation and the Board of Education approved the final recommendation with two modifications. The final approved map appears above.
