About Me:

I grew up the child of an elementary school teacher in Southeast Missouri. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Missouri-Columbia. I come from a long line that values public education and knows firsthand the worth it holds.

Professionally, I spent time working in the Chamber of Commerce field. I began my career at the Columbia Chamber of Commerce in Columbia, Missouri, and I left my position as vice president of the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2005 to become a full-time, stay-at-home mom. Over the course of my career, I was active in Chamber of Commerce Executives of Missouri, and I graduated from U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institutes for Organizational Management (Colorado College-2002) and Missouri Chamber of Commerce Leadership Missouri (2003). My experience in the chamber field gave me a vast knowledge of the Northland community, including the business, not-for-profit and education sectors.

My husband, Brian, and I have lived in the Park Hill School District for nearly 12 years. I became an active participant in the Union Chapel Elementary community when my oldest child was in kindergarten. I worked in a variety of volunteer capacities at the school and was elected president of the Union Chapel PTA 2014-2016. During my tenure as president, the school was named a National PTA School of Excellence.

I was named the Park Hill Volunteer in Support of Education award recipient in 2016. At the district level, I have served on various committees that have given me firsthand knowledge of the district. Among them are Park Hill Partners, Park Hill District PTA council, school calendar committee and the new middle school naming committee. Most notable, Michael Atchison and I served as co-chairs of the Citizens for Park Hill 2017 Bond Issue campaign, which passed with an overwhelming 84 percent approval from voters.

Brian and I are the proud parents of three children in the district: Jack, Annie and Callie. I fully believe that Park Hill is one of the leading districts in Missouri and, with a vested interest in its continued success, I will work to keep it that way.

The Best Thing About the Park Hill Schools:

Park Hill is an innovative leader in public education that delivers a world-class education to every student while maximizing our return on taxpayer investment. We have amazing teachers, staff and administrators who work tirelessly on behalf of our students every day. We also enjoy the support of patrons and businesses who value and invest in our district. We truly offer the best of all worlds: an exceptional educational experience for our students with a familiar, close-knit community for our families.

The Most Rewarding Experience as a Member of the Board:

Park Hill has a legacy of excellence. The success that Park Hill currently enjoys is not just a credit to the current Board of Education but also to those Boards of Education that proceeded us. We are indebted to them for being forward-thinking and proactive for future generations. As a Board member, I look forward to helping shape not only what today's school district looks like but also setting the stage for a successful future Park Hill.

Critical Issues Facing the Park Hill School District:

I think the single largest issue facing the district right now is student and staff safety. With the adoption of the new Comprehensive School Improvement Plan and the recent hiring of a director of safety and security, we have shown our commitment to this issue and will continue to increase our efforts.
