Snow Day Plan

District Shares Information on Snow Days
This is the image for the news article titled District Shares Information on Snow DaysSo far in the 2018-2019 school year, we had to call 10 snow days here in the Park Hill School District, in order to keep our students and staff safe. This would push the end of the school year into the first week of June.

Our first priorities are safety and providing quality instruction, but we received a great deal of feedback about the hardships of our unusual situation this year.

On Thursday, Feb. 28, the Board of Education approved a plan to address snow days. Here is how we will address the days we missed and any additional snow days:
  • March 15:
We will cancel the teacher work day on Friday, March 15. Pre-K, elementary and middle-school students and teachers will be in school on this day, but high-school students and teachers will not. This will make up for the snow day we had on Feb. 15, when the high schools were already scheduled to be closed.

  • April 22:
All students and teachers will have school on Monday, April 22. This was originally scheduled as a no-school day.

  • Last Day:
The last day for students will be a full day on Tuesday, June 4, and the last day for teachers will be a full work day on Wednesday, June 5.

  • More Snow Days:
We will not waive any other school days:
    • If we have to have an 11th snow day, the last day for students will be a full day on Wednesday, June 5, and the last day for teachers will be a full work day on Thursday, June 6.

    • If we have to have a 12th snow day, the last day for students will be a full day on Thursday, June 6, and the last day for teachers will be a full work day on Friday, June 7.

  • Summer School:
Summer school will start for students on Monday, June 10 (see the Summer School page for details).
