Plaza Middle School Student Advances to National Spelling Bee

Avyam Bansal from Plaza placed second, and Delaney Nash from Walden Middle School placed third. 

The other top winners were Kai Soo from Plaza, Alexander Joseph from Walden, Abeeha Siddiqui from Walden, Gracie Hayes from Renner Elementary, Asadbek Abdukholikov from Congress Middle School, Aisling Westenkirchner from Plaza, Khloe Tristan from Walden, Marina Drobeck from Chinn Elementary, Samuel Goodfriend from Lakeview Middle School, Boden Cumming from Walden, Grayson Kimball from Hawthorn Elementary and Evan Gimple from Lakeview. 

Students in fifth through eighth grades were invited to take a computerized spelling test. Students who scored 10 out of 20 on the computerized exam advanced to the district spelling bee, which was an online test this year. Arshad and Bansal earned perfect scores, so they participated in a virtual spelling bee to determine the winner.  The top 10 finishers earned medals, and the top three received trophies.
