Park Hill is working to prepare our students for the future. Through immersive experiences like projects and internships with leading business partners in our region, students get a head start on achieving their career goals. Rigorous courses and partnerships with local colleges and universities ensure that Park Hill students have an advantage when entering the post-secondary landscape. Students can earn industry and college-level credentials or distinctions making them more marketable after graduation.

What is a Future Ready Asset?

Future ready assets are industry and college-level credentials or distinctions that make students more marketable after graduation. Research shows that students who leave high school with a diploma and a credential like a future ready asset are more likely to enroll in postsecondary education/training and successfully navigate the journey from school to employment (PREP-KC 2017). Students engage in skill-building experiences that create a more seamless transition from school to postsecondary education and/or the workplace making further education and training more affordable and more attainable.

By the year 2030, 100% of Park Hill seniors will graduate with a career and/or college future ready asset.

College Ready Park Hill

College Ready Assets are experiences, credentials, and distinctions that will benefit students as they enter post-secondary education:

Nine or more hours of dual credit
Students can earn college credit while in high school. Students earn dual credit two ways – through a partner college or through an Advanced Placement test score of 3+. Learn more about our dual credit offering in the course planning guide.
A+ Scholarship recipient
Students who earn an A+ scholarship can attend a participating community college or vocational/technical school for two years free of costs. Learn more about the A+ Scholarship program.
AVID Completer
The AVID elective course supports students in advanced course enrollment, preparing them for rigorous collegiate coursework in the future. Students who qualify for the AVID elective course must enroll in grades 9-12 in order to earn the Future Ready Asset. Learn more about the AVID elective in the course planning guide.
Bright Flight Qualifier
Students who earn the Bright Flight scholarship through ACT or SAT score attainment qualify for up to $3,000 per year to Missouri accredited colleges or universities for up to ten semesters. Learn more about the Missouri Bright Flight Program.

Internship
Internship experiences are available to students through Park Hill Professional Studies, the Northland Career Center or the Northland Center for Advanced Professional Studies. Learn more about Park Hill Professional Programs.
Client Connected Project
Students complete projects that develop clear connections between classroom learning and the world of work. Courses incorporating client-connected projects include: Business Finance, Child Growth and Development, Fashion and Apparel II, Graphic Design, Housing and Interior Environment, Innovate. Real. Entrepreneurship, LEAD Aspiring Innovators, Marketing Concepts, ProStart I, Sports and Entertainment Marketing. Industry Recognized Credential
Missouri Industry Recognized Credentials (IRCs) are sought by employers within an industry or sector as a recognized, desired or preferred credential for recruitment, screening, hiring, retention or advancement purposes. Students can enroll in the Northland Career Center and be eligible for IRCs in agriculture, health, human services, information technology and/or engineering technology.
Work Study
When participating in work study, students can earn high school credit for off-campus experience at their current place of employment. Qualifying ASVAB Score
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is the entrance examination for the military. Students who are interested in taking the ASVAB will need to contact a military recruiter. To find a recruiter near you, visit: www.todaysmilitary.com/request-information.
Approved plan for post-secondary transition
Transition services are made available to students with disabilities as they prepare for and enter postsecondary life. A plan for post-secondary transition will be created in partnership with a special education case manager and included in a student’s individualized education plan (IEP).
