Meal Payment Options:
If your student plans to purchase breakfast or lunch, please make sure money is in your child’s account. You can make payments at your school (with cash or check) or online through SchoolCafe.com. If a parent needs assistance or their student’s ID number to set up an online account, they can contact the Nutrition Services office at 359-4090 or your student’s cafeteria manager.
Please note: Students who are not currently attending school (incoming kindergarten students or those outside the Park Hill district) will not be able to set up their SchoolCafe account until after August 1, 2023 when the 23-24 school year database is uploaded to our software.
Free and Reduced Meal Benefits:
Applications for the 2023-24 school year will be available for completion after August 1, 2023.
Students who receive free or reduced-price meal benefits during the school year will continue to receive those benefits during summer school. If you have any questions, please contact Park Hill Nutrition Services at (816) 359-4090.
Completed applications can be mailed or dropped off at any school building.
Student Meal Account Restrictions:
Since we’ve been serving free breakfast and lunch for the past two years, many account restrictions were removed, especially those blocking the purchase of breakfast. If you had previously placed a breakfast purchase restriction on your student’s account and would like to confirm that this is still in place, please contact the Nutrition Services department at parkhillnutritionservices@parkhill.k12.mo.us or 816-359-4090. We will need your student’s name to check the account restrictions.
Meal Account Balances and Refunds
Student meal account balances remain on student accounts from year-to-year and school-to-school as they move thru the Park Hill district.
Students leaving the district or graduating may request an account refund. Refunds under $10 should be requested in cash from the cafeteria manager. Requests over $10 must be made thru the Nutrition Services department by emailing parkhillnutritionservices@parkhill.k12.mo.us or by calling 816-359-4090, or thru the SchoolCafe app. Refunds of $10 or more will be in the form of a check cut and mailed to the household approximately two weeks after the request.
SchoolCafe Online Parent Portal
All enrolled students have a meal account in Park Hill.
Parents are encouraged to register for a SchoolCafe account, in which you would attach your children to this account, so you may monitor their account balance, set low balance emails, set ala carte (snack) restrictions, apply for free or reduced meal benefits, order daily hot meals for those students working online, or make payments to your student’s meal account(s). To set account restrictions from purchasing meals, please contact the Nutrition Services office at 816-359-4090.
Please note that the site is free to use, however if you make payments through this portal, the web company does charge a 4.75% fee per transaction. To save this fee, you are welcome to send cash or check (made payable to PH Nutrition Services or PHNS) to school with their student. When doing so, we ask that the cash or check be placed in an envelope with the student’s name and “lunch” money marked on the outside. Each cafeteria has a “mail slot” box on the wall that payments can be deposited in or can be handed to our Nutrition Services staff as the student goes through the breakfast or lunch line.
When registering for a SchoolCafe account, parents will need their student’s ID (“S”) number (5-digit number), minus the “S”. This number can be found on Infinite Campus or by calling the Nutrition Services office at 816-359-4090.
Ala Carte Items
Ala Carte items (snacks, bottled drinks, extra entrees, etc.) are available daily for students to purchase. These snack items must meet the USDA’s Smart Snack requirements.
Students must have funds on their account to purchase ala carte items. The district does not allow charging of ala carte. Tuesday is ice cream day in the elementary schools and elementary students may purchase an ice cream novelty on that day only.
Birthdays and Classroom Parties
Families may send birthday treats if they want to do so, as long as they come from our list of treats that contain none of the major allergens.
Thank you for understanding that all classroom treats must come from this list, because we do not have the staff capacity to check for allergens that could threaten the health of some students.
Please bring birthday treats ahead of time (two hours after the start of school, at the latest).

2023-24 Park Hill School District Meal Charge Procedure
The Park Hill School Board promotes healthy, high-quality school meals, recognizing that students need adequate, nourishing food in order to learn, grow, and maintain good health.
To assure students have access to healthy meals, the district participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs which provide students who qualify with a free or reduced cost breakfast and lunch.
To accommodate students who purchase school meals, payment options include an online payment system that will take credit and debit cards, or cash and check payments may be made at all school sites.
The Park Hill School District also provides multiple alerts to notify parents/guardians of their student’s account balance to help ensure they have money available to purchase a school breakfast or lunch:
- Parents may set an alert on the payment website that will notify them of a low account balance.
- Automated telephone calls are made weekly to notify parents of a low balance.
- E-mails are sent weekly to notify parents of a low balance.
- Students are alerted of a low balance and provided with a payment envelope when purchasing a meal.
Students who do not have money on their account or in hand to cover the cost of a meal at the time of service will be permitted to charge a full meal. Ala carte snacks and beverages may not be charged.
When a charge has occurred the parent/guardian will be notified of the negative balance:
- Automated telephone calls are made twice weekly to notify parents of a negative balance.
- E-mails are sent weekly to notify parents of a negative balance.
- Students are alerted and provided with a payment envelope when charging a meal.
If charges continue without repayment:
- Parent/guardian may be contacted by school staff to offer services or assistance as needed.
- Parent/guardian may be encouraged to submit a Meal Benefits Application if one has not been completed during the current school year.
District employees are mandated by the state of Missouri to report any instances of suspected abuse or neglect to the Children’s Division (CD) of the Department of Social Services. District personnel will report to the CD any instance where a student’s arrival at school with no provision for food leads to a reasonable cause to suspect neglect.
Employees are not allowed to charge meals and must provide payment at the time of service.
