Digital Citizenship

According to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), digital citizenship is about much more than online safety or a list of “don’ts.” It also includes the “do’s” that help students become thoughtful, empathetic, and responsible users of technology.
Digital citizenship skills include:

• Engaging respectfully online with people who may have different perspectives
• Using digital tools to express ideas, participate civically, and make one’s voice heard
• Evaluating the accuracy and reliability of online information

This approach emphasizes empowering students to participate positively in online spaces. Digital citizenship goes beyond personal responsibility. It helps students build a positive digital footprint and see opportunities for learning, connection, and contribution.
